The History of our Firm

The Tampa personal injury law firm of Ward-Mitchell evolved from a solo practice founded by Ken Ward on July 3, 1990. On that day, the Law Office of Ken Ward opened its doors to the public with a single injury claim which had been rejected by several larger law firms. The firm did not have a secretary, legal assistant or even a receptionist. However, with an unyielding belief in himself and the truth of his client’s cause, Mr. Ward took the case to trial and obtained a substantial verdict in favor of his client. This initial success was the seed from which the firm began to grow.

Over the next 30 years, Mr. Ward handled a variety of cases throughout the state of Florida, always representing the injured individual and their family. Whether in state court, federal court or arguing appeals, the firm’s dedication to its clients and its legal accomplishments became well known in the legal community. While some firms measure success by the volume of cases processed, our firm proudly measures success by the lives touched and improved through the successful personal injury verdicts and settlements we’ve obtained. To us, these are extraordinary results by any measuring stick.

While our firm has obtained many seven figure personal injury verdicts and settlements on behalf of our clients, we are equally proud of the smaller cases rejected by the injury settlement “mills” – who had no time for clients with difficult cases or whose claims were denied by insurance carriers – but on whose behalf we obtained a meaningful recovery. Ward-Mitchell is proud of the results obtained for those clients who turned to us when erroneous judicial decisions were made during their case and for which we obtained a reversal on appeal.
